The Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum is the State of Maryland’s official museum of African American history and culture. Opened in 1984, it is housed here in what was originally the Mount Moriah African Methodist Episcopal Church constructed in 1874. Named for African American Maryland icons Benjamin Banneker, Frederick Douglass, and Harriet Tubman, the Museum includes a newer addition, and features exhibits on history, art and Black life in Maryland.
