Significance:
The Arkansas River Visitor Center is a site on the Water Route of the Trail of Tears. It is located just downstream of what is now Lake Dardanelle where the original river channel still exists, next to Old Post Park.

The Arkansas River Visitor Center is a site on the Water Route of the Trail of Tears. It sits in between Old Post Park campground and the day use area. The name is derived from the first postal route in this part of Arkansas between Dwight Mission and Little Rock was a four horse coach carrying the mail as early as 1834.
