A series of ethnic social halls were established during the early 20th century as social outlets for patients. The Chinese Society, the Filipino Meeting House, the Women’s Social Club, and the Americans of Japanese Ancestry (AJA) Benevolent Society Hall were a few of the more well-known clubs. The building was constructed in 1910 and was well used for many years. Today AJA Hall is the only ethnic social hall that remains. It is currently used as the park bookstore.

If the bookstore is open while you are visiting, go inside to look at the exhibits and photographs in the interior!
