Agassiz Field sits on land that was once the northern boundary of Agassiz Park. This park is named after Alexander Emmanuel Rodolphe Agassiz who was born in Switzerland in 1835 and emigrated to the United States with his family in 1846. Agassiz played a major role in the founding and operation of the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company. The field was recently renovated, including new playing surface and track. It is now home to the Calumet Copper Kings.
