Schoodic Woods Ranger Station is the first stop many visitors make when they arrive at the less traveled side of Acadia National Park. Located in Winter Harbor, Maine, Schoodic Woods Ranger Station is home to a ranger staffed informational desk, small gift shop, Island Explorer bus stop, and restrooms.

What to Expect

Accessible parking is available in the upper-most parking area and is designated with paint on the ground and signage on posts. There are six accessible parking spaces with a short walk, uphill to the ranger station on a paved sidewalk.

The ranger station has double doors for easy entrance, and once inside the space is wide and clear of most physical barrier. The large wooden desk on the left should be staffed by a park ranger or volunteer, who can provide information about the park, campground, or park passes.

Outside of the ranger station is an accessible restroom building, with toilet compartments on either side, as well as a separate accessible large single restroom.

The fare-free Island Explorer Bus also has a stop at Schoodic Woods Ranger Station.
