Dorr Hall is located on the Schoodic Institute campus within the Schoodic District of Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor, Maine. The building serves as a hub for educational programming, including the popular Touch Tank program and other ranger-led and partner educational activities throughout the season.

The large open courtyard in front of Dorr Hall is occasionally used for Junior Ranger programs and other outdoor educational events. Dorr Hall is not open to the public at all times but is open during scheduled Touch Tank programs and other public events. Program dates and times can be found on the Acadia National Park Program Calendar.

Parking Lot

Visitors will find five designated accessible parking spaces located near the entrance to Dorr Hall. From the accessible parking area, a fully paved walkway provides a smooth, level route to the main entrance.

The accessible route is wide and free of steps, making it suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, and strollers.

What's Inside

When open, Dorr Hall hosts the Touch Tank program, where visitors can explore and learn about marine life from Frenchman Bay through hands-on educational experiences. The building also serves as a location for additional educational programs presented by park staff and Schoodic Institute educators.

The main entrance is accessible from the paved walkway. Interior spaces are designed to accommodate educational programming and visitor gatherings.

Planning Your Visit

Because Dorr Hall is only open during scheduled public programs, visitors should check the Acadia National Park Program Calendar before arriving to confirm operating hours and program availability. The calendar includes Touch Tank sessions, Junior Ranger programs, and other educational offerings held at Dorr Hall throughout the season.
