Overview

Abrams Falls trail will be closed Mondays through Thursdays from August 24 to September 30 so that the park can replace aging footlog bridges and improve visitor safety. During construction the trail will remain open to hikers Fridays through Sundays, and on Labor Day.

Swimming is strongly discouraged due to an undertow and dangerous conditions

Abrams Falls creates a mesmerizing spectacle as the considerable flow of Abrams Creek plunges 25 feet (7.6 m) over a ledge of sandstone into a deep, picturesque pool. Hemlock and rhododendron line banks of the creek, which is also home to three of the park's rare, threatened, and/or endangered fish species. Otters, which were reintroduced to the area, are occasionally seen near the falls.

How to Get There

  • Hike 5 miles (8 km) from the Abrams Falls Trailhead
  • Parking area is located at the far end of the Cades Cove Loop Road between sign posts 10 and 11
