Quick Facts

Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

The Winchester & Potomac railroad companies laid the first tracks in the mid-1830s. Today, the line belongs to CSX and is heavily trafficked by its trains. Rangers and visitors often wave to the engineers, who sometimes return greetings with a few rings of the bell or a quick blast on the horn. They are a favorite sight and sound in the Ferry.
