The Marin Headlands is home to a variety of wildlife including deer, pumas, bobcats, foxes and coyotes. River otters inhabit the brackish water lagoon and streams. Songbirds like the spotted towhee, American goldfinch, white-crowned sparrow and common yellowthroat frequent the edges of Rodeo Lagoon.

Large numbers of water birds (egrets, grebes, brown pelicans) hang around or migrate through the Headlands, in addition to some 20,000 birds of prey that fly over Hawk Hill every year.
