The Western Defense Command was the headquarters for the 6th Army and remained so until base closure in 1994. This is the office where many military decrees were made, most infamously, the order given on April 7th, 1942 to evacuate all persons of Japanese descent from San Francisco regardless of whether they were U.S. citizens or not.
