This is one of the beginning boardwalk trails out to the West Thumb Geyser Basin.

West Thumb Geyser Basin Trail

An easy, boardwalked 0.6-mile (1-km) trail through a geyser basin of colorful hot springs and dormant lakeshore geysers situated on the scenic shores of Yellowstone Lake.

Use Caution in Hydrothermal Areas

  • Stay on boardwalks and designated trails.
  • Hydrothermal water can severely burn you.
  • Never run, push, or shove.
  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Do not scratch hydrothermal mats.

You are responsible for your safety.
