Tree Fall offers a unique interpretation of a root system, and more metaphorically, a glance beneath the surface. The shape of the sculpture fills the rounded shape of the ceiling, referencing the early structural design. The crackling clay is organic and natural, dried from the passive ventilation system of the building. The sculpture illustrates the relationship between the natural and built environments, the military and nature in the Presidio. What does a relationship with nature look like to you? Do you think this relationship will be possible in the future?
