Listed as a National Historic Landmark, this stone and wood building was built in 1929 to replace the first park headquarters as the historic village and Grand Canyon National Park grew over the years. Eventually the park headquarters would be moved one mile east to a new building constructed during the mission 66 era of park development. 

Like most of the buildings in the Grand Canyon Historic Village this building's use has varied and shifted over the years as first the village and then the park continued to grow. As the canyon grew in popularity and year after year saw increases to park visitation the services the National Park Service and its partners have provided have had to grow and the Village was expanded to include the Market Plaza and Grand Canyon Visitor Center Plaza.

Some buildings have been lost over the years, like the gas station that used to sit where the parking lot now is, while others have found new purpose. How would you change or adapt to help protect something you loved?
