Brought by the Spanish for the Castillo de San Joaquin in 1793.
One of the oldest cannons in the Presidio, left by the Spanish, utilized by the Mexican forces, and taken by the Americans in the Bear Flag revolt.
Gathered at Fort Mason for decorations by Gen. Irwin McDowell between 1876-1882, the dates of his known service here. Served as decoration at Commanding Officers quarters placed in the Presidio in 1973, at the Presidio Army Museum, moved to the Officers' Club for the current display.
