Built in 1895 as housing for soldiers, the iconic barracks buildings on Montgomery Street are now home to several organizations including the Presidio Trust , Futures without Violence and the Walt Disney Family Museum .
The 30th Infantry Regiment called these barracks home from 1922 - 1941. This unit was known as "San Francisco's Own." The men in this outfit were highly decorated by the French government for their WWI July 1918 offensive on the Marne River, where they pushed back the German line.
