A wide sidewalk separates two segments of gray roughhewn stone wall 9 feet tall 2 feet thick.

The wall surround the second Fort Smith was 12 feet high and 2 feet thick with port holes about 4 feet apart. The main buildings in the enclosure were the commissary, two officers' quarters, the quarter-master's office. This section of the fort wall was built in 1930 using stone from the the original fort wall.
