Audio Description, Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits, Parking - Auto, Scenic View/Photo Spot

This overlook on US Forest Service land has excellent sunset views. It's also a great spot to see the effects of a very hot portion of the 2015 Rough Fire that reburned an area of the 1955 McGee Fire. The 60-year gap between these fires is longer than normal. After the McGee Fire in 1955, naturalists began to realize the dangers of long-term fire suppression and the benefits of prescribed burns.

Safety

Be very careful pulling into and out of this overlook; vehicles move quickly along this stretch of highway and visibility is limited.
