Just east of Mather Point, there is a rim-side amphitheater for ranger programs and special events.

Located at one of the most beautiful viewpoints along the south rim, Mather Amphitheater was built using native limestone and provides several levels of elevated seating for visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the Colorado River, Zoroaster Temple, and Bright Angel Canyon. It’s an ideal spot for ranger-led interpretive programs or just relaxing and soaking in the canyon view.

A number of ceremonies and special events have taken place here, including dedications, band concerts, naturalization ceremonies and award presentations.
