Park at the Welcome Plaza before you take the shuttle to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. The plaza features parking, restrooms, a Yosemite Conservancy bookstore, and visitor information. Board the free shuttle for the two mile ride to the Mariposa Grove Arrival Area. See local postings for shuttle information.

The road to the grove, beyond this parking area, is closed to private vehicles. Vehicles displaying a disability placard can drive up to the Mariposa Grove Road during the hours the shuttle is operating. There are very limited designated accessible parking spaces at Mariposa Grove Arrival Area and at Grizzly Giant accessible parking area.

Tips & Seasonal Information

From approximately December through March, the Mariposa Grove Road is closed to vehicles and the shuttle no longer operates.

When shuttle service is not available, the Mariposa Grove can be reached via a two-mile hike (each way) on the Washburn Trail or the Mariposa Grove Road (each has approximately 500 feet in elevation gain). Several miles of trails are available in the grove from that point. During winter, trails may be snowy and/or icy.

Bicycles are allowed on the Mariposa Grove Road between the welcome plaza (near South Entrance) and the Grizzly Giant when the road is open for the season. Bicycles are not allowed anywhere else in the the Mariposa Grove, including hiking trails.

Pets are not allowed on any trails in the Mariposa Grove. Pets are allowed on leash in the parking lots only. Pets are not allowed on shuttles.

Accessibility

Visitors can use the designated accessible parking at the Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza then ride the shuttle, all of which is wheelchair accessible. Or, vehicles displaying a disability placard may drive up the Mariposa Grove Road and park at the Mariposa Grove Arrival Area or at the Grizzly Giant accessible parking area. Parking is very limited.
