This is an equestrian monument to Major General George Britton McCllean, U.S. Army, who served as general-in-chief and first commander of the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War.

Monument DescriptionThe bronze sculpture depicts General McClellan on his horse. The statue sits on a tall granite base with other bronze works attached to the plinth. The monument stands at the crest of a hill overlooking Connecticut Avenue NW.
