The Lewis Mountain developed area is a favorite among return visitors. Its small, intimate atmosphere is both beautiful and relaxing. Lewis Mountain usually closes in November and reopens the end of March.

History

Park management established Lewis Mountain as a segregated area for African American visitors in the 1930s. Integration began in 1947 due to political pressure from Washington.
