Ferry services, provided by North Carolina's Department of Transportation (NCDOT), link Ocracoke Island to Hatteras Village and the mainland. There is a comfort station with restrooms available on the south side of the stacking lanes.

The ferry crosses Hatteras Inlet in roughly one hour and reservations are not required. Check the NCDOT ferry website for current departure schedules.

Once in line to await ferry-boarding, visitors are free to hop out of their vehicles and explore the nearby beaches and facilities, but are reminded to be back in their cars ten minutes before the next scheduled departure time.
