Grassy Lake Road Campsites
Electrical Hookup - Boat/RV, Restroom
Location: The Grassy Lake Road connects Flagg Ranch to Ashton, ID. Follow the road from the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway into adjoining US Forest Service land. Please use caution on this dirt road. High clearance vehicles are recommended, and the road is closed for grizzly bear migration until June 1. Sections of the road may open later depending on conditions. Along the road are eight camp areas including 20 campsites.
Description: The eastern camp areas are along the Snake River surrounded by lodgepole pines and meadows. The western camp areas are away from the river surrounded by young lodgepole pines and meadows. The 1988 wildland fires that burned Yellowstone National Park extended into this area. The remote location provides excellent habitat for a variety of wildlife.
Facilities
These twenty campsites are rustic. The sites open when the road opens. Access to the eastern sites begins June 1. Each campsite has a picnic table, bear box, and parking space. Each camp area has a central vault toilet, recycling bins, and a trash receptacle. There is no running water. Currently, the sites are all first-come, first-served with no user fee. Campers may stay no longer than 14 consecutive days or 30 days in a calendar year.
