Facing northwest at an elevation of 2,085 ft (635 m), Gooney Run Overlook looks down upon Browntown Valley. A small ridge separates Browntown Valley from the Shenandoah Valley beyond. Gooney Run is a stream that drains the Browntown Valley into the Shenandaoh River. On a clear day in the distance, you will see Massanutten Mountain, the range that divides the Shenandoah Valley in two.
