This site is not open at the current time. The Germantown White House is wheelchair accessible, first floor only. 

During the yellow fever epidemic in 1793, President George Washington and members of his cabinet, including Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, sought refuge in Germantown. In this rented home, they conducted the nation's business and addressed matters of foreign policy. The following summer, the President's family returned to enjoy the expansive gardens and orchards in this "fine airy place."
