Quick Facts

The Four Mile Trail features remarkable, panoramic views of Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Sentinel Rock, Half Dome, and Tenaya Canyon. This steep trail is challenging, all-day hike.

There is NO shuttle service available to transport hikers from Yosemite Valley back to Glacier Point. If you hike down, plan to hike up or arrange your own transportation.

 9.6 mi (15.5 km) round trip, out-and-back to Yosemite Valley
Elevation gain: 3,200 feet (975 m) elevation gain on the return to Glacier Point
Time estimate: 6-8 hours

Tips

  • Pets and bicycles are not allowed on hiking trails.
  • Drinking water may be available seasonally at Glacier Point (summer only). Check water availability before you go. There is no drinking water at the trailhead in Yosemite Valley.

Seasonal Information

This trailhead is only reachable by car when Glacier Point Road is open, which is typically from approximately late May through October or November. Overnight parking is prohibited beginning October 15. For current road and weather information, call 209/372-0200 (press 1, then 1).
