Davis Bayou Area
The salt water of the Gulf of Mexico mixes here in the Davis Bayou Area with fresh water from the mainland to create a rich estuary teeming with wildlife. Walk the trails, camp, and explore the bayous and salt marshes, which serve as nurseries for crabs, fish, and other marine life. See the film and exhibits in the visitor center. Fish from the pier, paddle around a bayou, or camp here in the 52-site campground. Plan your visit to Fort Massachusetts on West Ship Island, or one of other the barrier islands off the coast.
Know Before You Go:
- Check the weather in advance
- Be aware of uneven and slippery surfaces
- Do not disturb or remove any natural, historical, or archaeological objects
