Crystal Cave will not be open for the 2024 season due to damage to the road and trail leading to the cave caused by flooding and landslides during extreme 2023 winter storms and the 2021 KNP Complex Fire.

Crystal Cave is an excellent example of a marble cavern. There is a moderately steep (but paved) half-mile trail from the parking area to the cave entrance. The trail through the cave is also one half mile. Because of fragile formations, the only way to visit the cave is on a guided tour. Tours are suitable for all ages. If you decide to see the cave, plan on spending about half a day traveling to the cave, walking to the entrance, and taking the 45-minute tour.

Tickets and Operating Hours

Visit Sequoia Parks Conservancy's Crystal Cave webpage for tour dates, important information about tours, and a link to purchase tickets. Tours are 50 minutes and tickets are available from our parner, the Sequoia Parks Conservancy. Tickets must be purchased in advance, online. Tickets do sell out, so it is recommended that you book three weeks in advance of your visit.

Tickets are not available at the cave.

Services

No services are available at Crystal Cave. At the Crystal Cave Parking lot restrooms and food storage lockers are available. Everyone is required to remove all foods and scented items from cars and place them in the food storage boxes.

Accessibility

The trail to Crystal Cave, though paved, is very steep and narrow, and not recommended for visitors using mobility assistive devices. For an American Sign Language (ASL) translation of the Crystal Cave tour, please ask at the information booth at the Crystal Cave trailhead for a tablet with ASL interpretation. For an in-person ASL interpreter, please email the SPC Field Institute at SFI@sequoiaparks.org. Assistive Listening Devices with SM receivers are available at the Crystal Cave Entrance Booth located at the Crystal Cave Trailhead. Neck loops are available for those with T-coil hearing aids.
