The northern beaches of Ocracoke Island are accessible using this ramp. Year-round off-road vehicle and pedestrian access is provided to the west of the ramp, while pedestrian access is also provided to the east of the ramp that covers the northeastern end of Ocracoke Island. There is a parking lot just south of the ramp, for those who wish to use the pedestrian access, or ride in a vehicle with a permit. The parking lot can accommodate 18 normal-sized vehicles, plus two large spaces.

Off-road Vehicle Use


For beaches open to off-road-vehicle use, an off-road vehicle permit is required. Annual permits (from date of purchase) are $120 and 10-day permits are $50. Vehicles must be licensed, insured and registered; you must present your driver's license and vehicle registration. Permits must be purchased online at Recreation.gov
