This museum explains the factors leading up to the battle, the battle itself, and the aftermath and impact of the 1862 Battle of Harpers Ferry. The battle was fought September 12-15, 1862 as part of General Robert E. Lee's Maryland Campaign - the Confederate Army's first invasion of the Union during the Civil War. Despite the surrender of federal troops, this battle had great significance. Visit the museum to learn more about what occurred.
