| Eugene Merrill Woodson III was born on September 12, 1945 and his home of record is listed as Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army in the 9th Infantry Division, 1097th Transportation Company Boat. He started his tour in Vietnam on March 8, 1968 and later went missing in action. After his body was recovered, his cause of death was listed as either suffocation or drowning in non-hostile action in Long An province, South Vietnam, occuring on August 8, 1968. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal. Woodson is honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. on panel 49W, line 32 and is buried at Stones River National Cemetery in plot Q-6790. |
