James Dallas Taylor was born on June 18, 1922, in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Like many young men of his generation, he entered military service during World War II, serving as a Private in the U.S. Army’s 78th Division.
In December 1944, Taylor was stationed in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, during intense fighting following the German breakthrough of Allied lines at the start of the Battle of the Bulge. On December 16, Taylor was wounded during the fighting. He later died from his injuries on December 24, 1944.
James Dallas Taylor is buried at Stones River National Cemetery in plot P-6292, where his grave honors a life lost in service during one of the war’s most critical campaigns.
