Patricia Cushing was traveling aboard Flight 93 with her friend and sister-in-law, Jane Folger, to visit San Francisco for the first time, a trip the two had been planning for months. Cushing raised five children in Bayonne, New Jersey and was widowed in 1988. The Maryland native retired after 20 years as a Service Representative for New Jersey Bell Telephone. She held season tickets for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, loved movies and ballet, and played mahjong every week. Her family describes her as a “classy lady” with a strong faith who remained upbeat regardless of the circumstances. Cushing was survived by her children.
