| Thomas S. Miller was born on May 22, 1842. He served as a Private in Company B of the 90th Ohio Infantry. The 90th Ohio Infantry was mustered on August 29, 1862. They were first sent to Kentucky, where they saw Covington, Lexington, and Louisville. They participated in the pursuit of Confederate General Bragg to London, the Battle of Perryville, and spent time in Glasgow. They then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, participated in the advance on Murfreesboro, spent a day in Lavergne, and fought in the Battle of Stones River. Miller was killed during the Battle of Stones River on December 31st, 1862. He was 20 years old at the time of his death. His headstone reads, “Long live the memory of all, who for their country’s freedom fall, of him who shared the mortal strife, and gave in youth precious life.” Thomas S Miller is laid to rest in the Stones River National Cemetery in plot K-4366. |
