Lloyd Vernon Gaskill Sr. was the final keeper of the Bodie Island Lighthouse, serving from 1919 to 1939. Prior to his time at Bodie Island, Gaskill served at the Hilton Head Range Light in South Carolina, Pamlico Point and Long Shoal Lights in North Carolina, and Craig Hill in Maryland.
After the US Coast Guard assumed control of the Bodie Island Light Station in 1939, Gaskill became a member of the Coast Guard, Boatswain Mate 1st Class, serving as Lighthouse Tender and Commanding Officer of North Landing Aids to Navigation in Coinjock, North Carolina.
Lloyd Vernon Gaskill retired on January 1, 1948.
