Jerry Murray was a laborer on the Allegheny Portage Railroad.

He emigrated from Ireland and settled in Maryland and later moved to Hollidaysburg. After working on the Allegheny Portage Railroad, he was employed in Hollidayburg at a foundry. His wife was also from Ireland.

He is the father of David Murray, who also worked on the Main Line Canal.
