| Born in 1837 in Cecil County, Maryland, Jacob moves to Linwood, Delaware County, Delaware where he lives with his family working as a blacksmith. In October 1861 Jacob enlists as a sergeant. Between July and November Jacob is assigned to recruiting service. On his return to active duty he is appointed as the color sergeant of Company I. Jacob is wounded in the right leg, requiring amputation on July 2, 1863. Jacob dies on July 6, 1863. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (married in November 1861) and his son just seven months old at the time of death. |
