Coy Herman Dunaway was born on May 26, 1916 in Wilson County, Tennessee. He worked on a farm before serving in World War II as a Private First Class in an engineer regiment. While on duty riding as a passenger in a Jeep, Dunaway was in a motor vehicle accident. He was sent to a hospital in England where he passed away on January 2, 1944. He was awarded an American Campaign Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. Dunaway is buried at Stones River National Cemetery in plot P-6295.
