Absalom Osman was a brakeman on the Allegheny Portage Railroad.
Osman grew up in Centre County and was trained as a blacksmith and worked in that field for four years. He also worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Altoona shops and the Keystone Bridge Company of Pittsburgh. On the Bell's Gap Railroad, he worked as a stone mason and later a stationary engineer. He worked as a blacksmith at various locations. Osman served with Co. D., 13th Pennsylvania Calvary until 1865.
Absalom and Elizabeth Myers married in 1857 and had eight children: Catherine, Bella, Lydia, Harry, Theodore, George, Molly, and Jennie.
