THE COVER

A Confederate battery position on Missionary Ridge. On November 25, 1863, the Federals assaulted Missionary Ridge; after severe fighting, the Confederates withdrew to Ringgold and then to Dalton. The Chattanooga Campaign thus ended in a Union victory
