Concerns about disease transmission should be reported to a park ranger, who can contact their NPS public health consultant. For rare or serious diseases, illness that involve multiple people, or wildlife encounters of concern (such as bites, scratches, or attacks), please also contact us directly.
- Communicate disease risks to visitors and concessioners.
- Detect clusters of disease or disease risk
- Investigate and respond to public health issues
- Learn, through research, how to improve health in the parks
