Notice to Researchers: It is now again possible to visit the South Florida Collections Management Center to conduct research in our collections. Researchers must comply with the current coronavirus guidance in effect for Everglades National Park. The SFCMC staff continues to welcome inquiries through the CONTACT US form link at the bottom of this page.

The South Florida Collections Management Center (SFCMC) is a multi-park museum program for Big Cypress National Preserve, De Soto National Memorial, and Biscayne, Dry Tortugas, and Everglades National Parks. The center coordinates the acquisition and preservation of museum and archive collections, which support research and park interpretive needs. Although located inside Everglades National Park, the SFCMC provides long-term museum planning for all five National Park Service units in south Florida.

Fun Fact: The Department of the Interior and its bureaus, including the National Park Service, collectively manage 206 million museum items. More than 3 percent of that total is at the South Florida Collections Management Center, which has more than 7 million museum and archive items!
