Project Title: Patriotism Under Fire: Expanding the Public’s Understanding of the Japanese American IncarcerationGrant Award: $987,737
Description: The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation will educate new audiences and expand public understanding of Japanese American Incarceration history by illuminating the lives of the incarcerated Japanese Americans who left confinement sites around the country to serve in the U.S. military and die while fighting during World War II. The project connects interactive multimedia programs with increased educational programming and planning with 10 partner organizations that span from Washington, D.C. to the West Coast. The project incorporates a website featuring the profiles of Japanese American soldiers and their families, a new physical and online exhibit, and appearances by educational leaders throughout the country.
