Federal Departments and Agencies

Federal Archeology Program partners include agencies and bureaus with land-managing responsibilities and other interests in archeology, cultural heritage, and historic preservation. Their involvement in the Federal Archeology Program and role in preservation depends on their authorities assigned by federal law and function within the federal government. Some manage resources, such as the National Park Service, while some manage development on the lands they administer, such as the Bureau of Reclamation. Others, such as the Environmental Protection Agency or the Federal Highway Administration, ensure that activities that they facilitate, license, or fund comply with archeology law. Partners include:
