![]() Fourteen-Hundred People Make A Difference! Recently tallied statistics from Olympic's volunteer program spotlight the contributions made by park volunteers. During fiscal year 2006 (October 1, 2005 - September 30, 2006), 1,427 people volunteered their time and energy to serve Olympic National Park and its visitors. Over 71,000 hours (equal to the hours worked by 34 full-time positions) were contributed, in nearly all aspects of park work. From the families who spend a day collecting trash during the annual beach clean-up to the long-term volunteers who staff visitor center desks each week year after year, Olympic National Park's employees and visitors appreciate your dedication! Hurricane Ridge Visitors Urged to Carpool With already limited parking and recent news that the Snow Bus will not operate this winter, park staff is urging Hurricane Ridge snow-seekers to carpool and pay extra attention to making the best use of parking spaces. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Observance In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Olympic National Park will present “A New Time, A New Voice”, a 30-minute video program about Dr. King. The program will be shown at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, January 13, 14 and 15 at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center.
