Position: Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA)

End Date: January 2024 (approx.)
Compensation:

  • $500/week living allowance baseline plus up to $65 housing allowance depening on location
  • $6,345 AmeriCorps Award (pre-tax)

Our Position

The main goal for this position is to continue development of a community outreach program with the tribal and indigenous communities along the trail in order to foster a connection to and stewardship of the New England Trail (NET). We want to create relationships, identify the wants and needs of these communities and see where we can work together. That might mean creating future paid or volunteer opportunities for things such as trail crews, developing education or interpretation resources together, facilitating a Land Acknowledgement, or other efforts of interest that emerge.

This trail is located through central CT and western MA.

Full NET Position Description

Eligibility:

The Community Volunteer Ambassador Program is a full-time, para-professional national service opportunity that is funded through AmeriCorps and the National Park Service. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Be 18-30 years old (35 years old if you are a veteran)
  • Be willing and able to commit to a year of full-time work
  • Be willing to occasionally work weekends and evenings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in outdoor education and/or recreation
  • Familiarity with social media marketing platforms
  • Computer literate (Microsoft and Google platforms, Mailchimp, WordPress, Trello)
  • Outgoing and friendly
  • Self driven, independent worker with a good work ethic
  • Takes initiative, with good judgement
  • Comfortable working remotely and as part of a distributed team
  • Submit proof of a Driver’s License and undergo a Federal Background Check, upon selection
  • Participants will be required to be fully vaccinated to serve in the 2023 CVA Program. Request for exemptions may be submitted to our partner Conservation Legacy prior to the start date.
