Notice to the Public: Temporary Closure of the Greenbelt Park Perimeter Trail

August 11, 2025: The National Park Service is imposing a temporary closure of the Greenbelt Park Perimeter Trail from mile marker 0.8 to 1.9. This trail was closed under emergency conditions on July 22, 2025, and will remain closed until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the affected park area is attached.
This temporary closure is necessary to protect the safety of pedestrians on the trail, a section of which was washed away in a storm, while construction activity occurs to rebuild the trail.
Persons using these park areas should remove themselves from the closed areas by 6:00 a.m. on August 12, 2025.
The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter.
