Notice to the Public of a Temporary Closure of Anacostia Drive SE

Anacostia Drive SE, from South Capitol Street to Nicholson St. SE in Anacostia Park, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 am until 7:00 pm on May 16, 2026.

Violation is prohibited. A map illustrating the closed park areas is attached.

This temporary closure and public use limit is necessary for the protection of pedestrians, including those who will participate in and attend the permitted Anacostia River Festival event in Anacostia Park. Persons with vehicles in these park areas should remove their vehicles from the closed park areas by 6:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter.
