Bathroom

After the incorporation of running water, the Walker house had three bathrooms including Mrs. Walker’s own private washroom. It is located at the top of the front staircase. The bathroom has chic, octagonal “subway tiles,” pedestal sink, and showerhead. It features a bidet; a facility rarely found in American bathrooms. Mrs. Walker later modified the tub with a bench seat to accommodate her disability in her later years. When Mrs. Walker relied on her wheelchair, she used the bathroom as a throughway from the end of the hallway to her sitting room and her bedroom. This allowed her to bypass the staircase. Adjoining the bathroom, a large walk-in closet served as a dressing room.
