Is your living history group interested in volunteering at Monocacy National Battlefield?

Here are some of the requirements that interested groups should review before contacting the park:

Policies Relating To Historic Weapons Demonstrations

National Capital Region Historic Weapons Guidelines

In addition, living history units must submit the following before participating in living history:

  • A photograph of your entire group and two of your unit engaged in a living history program.
  • A list of the sites and programs where you have participated in living history over the past three years with reference contact information.
  • A copy of your units uniform guidelines.
  • The number of active members on the unit roster to help better gauge participation.
  • A program proposal/outline describing how your group will provide programming at Monocacy National Battlefield. Consider how the program will enhance visitor’s understanding and appreciation of this site as a nationally significant landmark. (Please understand that the park interpretive staff is responsible for developing special events based upon interpretive themes and must incorporate living history into some of these events. Your program proposal, along with those of other units, often helps us match units to programs and assists us in our planning. However, it does not necessarily mean that you will be asked to develop that specific program.)
